I like writing about history but in style different than most. Like, does "Thaddeus Wofington Settled on Cuba Road in 1875," sound interesting? How about this? When we did a major road rebuild in 2005 of Cuba Road, we discovered two interesting things: empty whiskey bottles dating back to the 1800s and actual wagon wheel ruts in the dirt in the original Cuba Road. It caused me to think of drunken farmers heading to the milk/whistle stop (called Cuba Station) on the rail head which used to exit near West Cuba Road and Plum Tree Road. See what I mean? History with a kick! Did you know that the farmhouse which we now occupy for offices was once a boarding house for a nearby cheese factory? Probably not real interested either. Nevertheless, pretty cheesy. Follow the Link, I am going to keep adding snippets of local lore.........including the suggestion that no one really has any accurate idea of how the name of the Township came about, as well as various historical facts with which you can amaze your friends, neighbors and particularly your teenage children, who will undoubtedly be attentive and fascinated.
